Reverse not working

Jeep cherokee 3.1 2001 automatic. All gears
working except reverse. Can change into it put ya
foot down just revs.. any ideas much
appreciated..cheers

Sorry to say this,but reverse is usually the first gear to go out in the tranny,some will run like this for a long time with no issue,s but most of the time the other forward gears will follow,soon,you will need to have it rebuilt,or replaced.
