What is this?

Asked by Aug 01, 2018 at 05:35 PM about the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm not sure if this is from this vehicle because I
had a 2000 Chevy Lumina parked there too, but I
found this underneath my Jeep, maybe near the
transmission. Anyone have any idea what is could
be or where it came from/goes?

Looks like a rusted out transmission fill tube. Is it hollow? If so then I believe that is what it is.

No, it's completely solid

It almost seems like it's supposed to stabilize something or keep something separate. It doesn't have and break marks either. I'm very unsure if it even came off my Jeep. I scrapped a Lumina about a week ago, and maybe I just didn't notice it sitting there.

Don't even remember seeing anything like that on my old GC, and I was all over it in the years I has it. Most likely something that fell off of a scrap metal truck.

Now I'm thinking it's from my old basketball hoop base. I had a boat parked in that spot and threw that thing underneath it. And then I moved that an the boat and it might have fell off the base. But I'd like to think I would notice it right away. Maybe it stabilizes the pole in the base???

It sure doesn’t look automotive being solid like that.
