My 2002 2wd 6cyl jeep Cherokee overheats randomly while idling. At mechanics runs for hours and doesn't overheat. They say everything checks out. Where can you fan manual fan clutch and blades to add?

02 could have a radiator problem, I had a car that you sit there and idle it all day and the coolant needle would stay right in the normal range, but take it out and drive it and start pulling a hill and there it would go right into overheat, replaced the radiator and that cured it. If you looking to add electric cooling fans they will have to be placed in front behind the grill and use pancake style units due to the limited area to mount anything. HTH

They said the radiator was fine. I had a new one installed a year ago. My mechanic is having difficulty finding a manual fan clutch and fan blades.

I don't think they exist, after any fan clutch failure I've just hooked up electrics, some times it was even cheaper than going stock.

So you added a second fan that was electric? I really think 2 fans would help the overheating.

Yes absolutely, I try to cover the front of the radiator as much as possible, if two fans would work better than one then go that way, I had a Trooper that was in for a failed fan clutch and after talking to the owner he went with a custom set of 4 chromed electric cooling fans that totally covered the cooling area, he said that from then on that once the fans kicked on the temperature gauge just stopped moving upwards, in fact if it was cold outside the gauge would actually drop about 10 degrees, then the fans would shut off. Forgot to mention that I also put in an thermostatic fan switch that was adjustable.
