2002 Grand Jeep Cherokee key ignition draining battery

Asked by PaisleyLotus Feb 04, 2020 at 05:39 PM about the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Whenever I turn my Jeep off, it seems as though the
ignition sets on accessory mode (if that makes any sense)
which drains my battery. I would even double check to
ensure the accessories mode wasn't on when I turned the
vehicle off. Didn't even get a bell sound when I opened the
door as if the key was still in the ignition or accessory
mode was on as normal. One other incident is the vehicle
was turned on and I was able to pull the key out without
force (I wasn't trying to pull the key out) and it still was
running. Why and what is making this happen?
