Will a 1978 chevy 350 motor match up with the
transmission of a 1989 GMC Sierra 1500?

Yea, it will match up, I just hope you can get it to run. 1978 there is no computer running the engine, 1989 there is a OBD1 computer running the engine. It is not impossible to get it hooked up tho, just have to do some research.
