Transmission problem (rpm needle too high when engine works)

Asked by Nov 18, 2017 at 07:37 AM about the 2013 Kia Optima Hybrid

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Kia Optima 2013, when I start driving, the
care works good and there is no problems.
But after driving for like 10 miles, a problem with the
gear shift happens; I look at the screen that shows
me what Is moving the wheels ( battery or engine or
both ), and when it is the battery working, rpm is
good, but the moment the engine starts giving
power to the wheels, the rpm goes to the highest
and doesn’t shift gears until I completely remove
my foot from the gas pedal. And then repeat, so I
have to continue my trip only using the battery but
not the engine.
Only thing that helps me sometimes when this
happens is that I kick down so that the car forces
itself to shift gears until I reach like 60 miles and I
stay on that speed, and whenever I have to slow
down and the gear shifts down, the problem
happens again (high rpm)
What could possibly be the problem ?
Thank you for your time reading and answering this.
Much appreciated
