Probably your cooling fan at the radiator and condenser is not coming on. Turning on the A/C increases the heat load and driving down the road does not make enough air flow to dissipate that extra heat. So the fan motor may be stuck or burned out, there's a relay in the fuse box under the hood to check, and a fuse too.
