Kia sorento burns oil

Asked by GuruPB3B1 Jan 19, 2020 at 12:34 PM about the 2014 Kia Sorento

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Bought a used 2014 sorento with 90k miles. After
first oil change, I almost ran completely out of oil.
Car blows oil especially when going up steep hills.
I had to add oil every month, now it's a quart every
week. I put a lot of miles on my car, over 1000
miles a week. I have never seen a stain where I
park. I have had the car over a year now.

The engine is burning it. It's a common issue with that engine in other Kia's in that model year. Some have had the engine fail all together. I suggest you bring this oil burning issue up with your Kia dealer as there is a 10 year 100000 mile warranty. Do it before your warranty is over to get a replacement engine.

10 year/100,000 Powertrain warranty is only available to first owner or certified pre-owned vehicles from Kia dealers. It becomes 5years/60,000 miles for second owner.
