As you stated the key won't slide out so the tumblers are no doubt broken, you are going to have to get forceful with it, and this may break a few things, use a large pair of vise grips and grab the key then using a small hammer drive on the vise grips to dislodge the key, you may have to remove the column covers to accomplish this, once the key is out see if the tumbler will turn to the on position, if it does then you can drive the lock pin up and pull out the tumbler assembly, if not then you will have to drill out the tumbler case to free up the lock pin. once you get it all back together the antithieft system will be turned on so it will have to be reprogrammed with the new key codes and that will have to be done at a dealer or a good locksmith can also do it.
