How can Nissan sell a car with a CVT transmission that is so dangerous?
I am totally dumbfound on how the owner of Nissan would allow their
customers to drive a car with such a dangerous transmission. My sister has
a Nissan Rogue 2013 which has the worlds most dangerous transmission in
it better known as the cvt transmission. My question is why are they allowing
this at all? This entire system is faulty. All CVT transmissions should be
recalled no matter what year. Should anything bad happen to my sister and
her family while driving this death trap you better believe I will do anything in
my power to get all these death traps off the streets. I guess my question is ,
How do they sleep at night knowing that they are selling lemons that kill?
I guess you have a rhetorical question- but here is an answer anyway- the CVT tranny has been around for a long time- a good idea, mechanically- but nobody has figured out how to make it work correctly- to last for more than 100,000 miles- the Japanese thought they could make it reliable- after all, they made the rotary engine work pretty well- an almost impossible task- so why not try the CVT? there are advantages, on paper that the CVT has on an ordinary automatic transmission- but NOBODY can make one reliable- obviously- maybe Toyota has come closer than Nissan? idk- but who cares? just buy an automatic- Nissan is learning their lesson the hard way, with huge warranty payouts and a loss of reputation- just like the Germans are learning with their diesel cars- it must be a form of corporate suicide-
People don't do research before buying. I think all CVT cars should come with a big warning sticker on the windshield.
i have close to 200k on my rogue with a cvt without an issue cvt is the way that alot of auto makers are going with honda,subaru,nissan and mitzubishi for example

every CVT I've driven feels like an automatic tranny going bad, we could all blame DAF or shift our own...
I just put an external cooler on a 2011 Rogue that was on it's way to toasting the second CVT. Based on what I hear even Nissan has figured out that they didn't cool this thing properly for many years in many models. I have read that the addition of an external cooler greatly extends the life and reliability of the unit. Time will tell I suppose, but I would avoid any model with a CVT from here on based on my experience.
Look up NHTSA reference 10044570. 2011 Rogue, my driving exposed the problem early, as I sometimes drive up the Sierra Nevada mountains and in the summertime. It will overheat the tranny, but not the engine (i.e., the radiator is just fine). Nissan dealer repair shop at first thought it was over-filled; still happened. I had to look up the issue and they found it, too. Got a free external cooler in installed under warranty....thank goodness I discovered the overheated tranny problem beforehand. Runs just fine ever since, and I'm up to over 130,000. As for the "feel", I did a test drive and knew what I was getting into, so there should be not complaints about performance by anyone unless you've had this problem with overheating.
