battery light

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Dodge Journey 2013. The battery light came on and then all the warning lights came on, my car then went into lag mode. Got it home safely before it completely died. We changed the battery and we changed the alternator. Still did the same thing. Auto Zone said bring alternator back and have it tested, it failed so we got a new one. Put it in still the same thing, changed battery terminals, still having the same issue. Any one have any suggestions to what it could possible be? Just paid it off :(

If battery light is still on after installing new alternator check for a blown alternator fuse.

Exact same thing with my Journey! I have had it back and forth with my mechanic and he isn’t sure if it’s the computer. Please keep me posted with yours.

Have you figured anything else out?

We took second alternator off and had it tested and it was broken also. So we had to order a new one. Will put it on tonight and will let you know.

It appears that it may have been to to 2 faulty alternators. I purchased a new, not refurbished, altenator and fingers crossed it’s working fine now and working!

Guruvg36c are you Marijane, the one that posted the original question? Just curious because what happened to her car is the same thing that is happening to mine! Curious if it’s just the alternator, my mechanic and another mechinac said it’s not.....

I have a 2012 Dodge Journey. I have replaced my alternator 12/2018. Went into battery saver mode 2 weeks later had to replace a brand new battery from that 01/2019. 2 days later went into battery saver mode and completely died. PCM failed this time. Replaced PCM and found bad alternator. Alternator replaced under warranty still has battery indicator light. Dealership inspected all the wiring no shorts to ground. It will be going back to mechanic to sort tomorrow. I have no CEL just battery indicator and the last time I had that the PCM failed.
