battery light

Asked by Marijane Sep 24, 2018 at 09:33 PM about the 2013 Dodge Journey

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Dodge Journey 2013. The battery light came on and then all the warning lights came on, my car then went into lag mode. Got it home safely before it completely died. We changed the battery and we changed the alternator. Still did the same thing. Auto Zone said bring alternator back and have it tested, it failed so we got a new one. Put it in still the same thing, changed battery terminals, still having the same issue. Any one have any suggestions to what it could possible be? Just paid it off :(

If battery light is still on after installing new alternator check for a blown alternator fuse.

We took second alternator off and had it tested and it was broken also. So we had to order a new one. Will put it on tonight and will let you know.

It appears that it may have been to to 2 faulty alternators. I purchased a new, not refurbished, altenator and fingers crossed it’s working fine now and working!

I have a 2012 Dodge Journey. I have replaced my alternator 12/2018. Went into battery saver mode 2 weeks later had to replace a brand new battery from that 01/2019. 2 days later went into battery saver mode and completely died. PCM failed this time. Replaced PCM and found bad alternator. Alternator replaced under warranty still has battery indicator light. Dealership inspected all the wiring no shorts to ground. It will be going back to mechanic to sort tomorrow. I have no CEL just battery indicator and the last time I had that the PCM failed.

Probably the "battery current sensor" thats supposed to be there is faulty or not installed properly. Some regulate temps. to alternator causing overheating at damage to altetnator and fuses. Some people just take them off when changing the battery.

I have a 2011 dodge Journey and today the battery light came on and then the anti break light along with the battery came on and then it just died! I had just dropped it off at the service center to have them look at it and it will take them 2 weeks to actually look at it. This is the first time it has died but not the first time the battery light came on. Vary confused my father is a mechanic and he is vary stumped on why it did it. If anybody has any answers please feel free to answer me by email. mary.skogberg1@icloud.com
