Fuel pump from a 2002 work on a 1996, both Ford Taurus

Asked by Nov 22, 2017 at 06:52 PM about the 1996 Ford Taurus

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The fuel pump went out on a friend's 1996 Ford
Taurus, I have a 2002 Ford Taurus I use for parts.
Will the fuel pumps match up to replace it on the
'96 from the '02?

The book says no, but there was a person on here a short time ago that used a pump that the book said wouldn't work and it did, so if the pressures are close and the dimensions are the same it should work, you will just have to pull them both and have a close look, just make sure the pump works before you go through all that just to find out it is stuck.
