Question type: Maintenance & Repair

while driving my 2012 F150 will shut down and the tool picture comes on and the engine light is always on.  I have to pull off  road, put it in park and restart it will cut off twice every mile.  I was told it was the sensor under the gas peddle and it would cost about $550.00 to repair it.  Does this sound right?

Could be a defective EVAP purge valve. It's on the top of the engine. Disconnect the rubber hose from the canister and the electrical fitting to it. Start the car. Place finger over inlet hole where hose goes. If you feel a vacuum, the part is bad.
