Where is my freon leaking from?

Asked by mgooden537 Oct 13, 2015 at 03:27 PM about the 2012 Ford Explorer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 Ford Explorer XLT, I've had to take it to Ford 3 times because the Freon is leaking somewhere but they are unable to find a leak even after putting dyes in the system. What could be the issue?  Where is my Freon going?

If the leak is inside the dash (evap) they will never see it. I would suspect they would use a digital gas detector to check the vents for gas, but who knows. If it's warranty work, I'd keep bringing it back to the dealership. They are reimbursed little for warranty work, and if the vehicle keeps showing up, they may get on the ball. Might also try calling the Ford Service Rep. and get them involved.

Check the freon line that goes to the back under the car. My buddy just got his 2010 repaired as the freon line was rubbing against the transmission cooling lines. Michael
