2012 Nissan Sentra Loses Acceleration

Asked by Kathleen Apr 28, 2019 at 10:06 PM about the 2012 Nissan Sentra

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2012 Sentra loses acceleration when on long trips. I'll drive for 1-1.5 hours,
on the interstate, then all of the sudden I can't accelerate anymore or it is
VERY slow when the pedal is all the way down. If I stop and shut off the car for
5-10 minutes it will start working again. Any ideas on what it might be?

I’m having the exact same issues on my 2012 Sentra . Anyone have any thoughts?

I'm also having the exact same issue and it is very frustrating... i've heard talks of the throttle body needing to be replaced and also for the wiring for the throttle body being an issue... would love to hear what others have to say

I got a ODM II computer reader and it came up with the code P0744 Torque Converter Clutch Intermittent. I took it to Nissan with that information and it turns out that it is a common issue with 2012 Sentras and it needs a new transmission.

Did anyone figure out what the problem was. I already had my transmission replaced by Nissan 2 years ago that this summer I am losing acceleration on long trips.

It's the throttle body...I don't think it's the transmission although I would add a coolant system to the transmission they have an aftermarket version for it (TRUST ME IT HELPS)... but the Nissan electric throttle body has issues take it to a Nissan dealer and have them do the relearn procedure for your gas pedal after you replace ETB and your car will work just fine... Here's a link to the relearn procedure that you can do yourself after you replace the ETB https://youtu.be/CR-AjHCslhs
