Brake / Gas issue for Chrysler T&C

Asked by Kayaker7775 Feb 10, 2020 at 07:14 PM about the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My son is several states away at college in a
very small town with no dealers or mechanics
around. The nearest dealer/mechanic is a few
hours drive

Today when he stopped at an intersection his
break pedal remained depressed and the
breaks engaged after he took his foot off the
pedal.

He tried to disengage them by pressing on the
gas pedal. That did not work. When he
pressed on the gas pedal nothing happened.
The engine did not rev and the RPMs did not
increase.

He put it in park and then drive but that did
not work.

He turned the van off and restarted it. That
worked and the car drove normally.

Any idea what the issue might be? Is it a
software or computer chip issue?

I am reluctant to have him drive a few hours in
the snow to get it fixed until I’m sure he can
make it to his destination safely.

Thanks for your help.
