2012 golf TDI STOP! Oil pressure engine off owners manual
This morning it was -28 degrees F where I live. I
tried starting my 2012 Golf TDI and the engine
sounded like it was trying to turn over (never
actually started) but when I stopped turning the
key an alert on the dashboard popped up that
said, “STOP! Oil pressure engine off owners
manual”. It’s now warmed up to -17F outside and I
tried again and the same thing happened.
Is my TDI just plain too cold to start and the
computers/sensors are confused? Or is something
actually wrong with my vehicle?
First, check the oil to see if it's high enough on the dipstick. That's what this warning is about. If the oil level is good/full, then it's probably the low temperature that's causing a sensor to briefly fail, or the viscosity of the oil is so thick that the engine isn't able to pump it fast enough to be read.
