About not running a thermostat in my car
I was wondering if i could run my mustang for
about 3 weeks without a thermostat and if it would
mess it up
You can't really can't the lack of thermostat can and does cause overheating as the coolant flow thru the radiator is so fast the fan or ram air cannot cool it. It will also damage cylinder heads and head gaskets because of additional heat cycles and shock cooling on deceleration.
You might be able to do it, but if you do, keep a close eye on the temp gauge as it may overheat. If it runs too cool that is also not real good for the engine, especially the piston rings. I'd say if you need to do this try it, but closely monitor temperature.
I have a question Why would you run it without a thermostat? Please explain all benefits. Thanks
I am curious too, why no thermostat?
Why would you take that chance ?I'm curious !
