Rear light issues

Asked by Oct 19, 2019 at 11:54 PM about the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Please help!  I just purchased a used 2012 Chevy
Sonic LT sedan, 48 hours after I drove it off the lot,
the driver's side rear turn signal stopped working.  I
changed the bulbs, but no luck.  Then I discovered
the back up light on the same side is also out.  I
have changed both bulbs with no success.
Everything I find online says to check the fuse, but I
can't find anything that tells me where the fuse is
located and I don't have an owner's manual.  I know
it's likely in the fuse panel under the dash, but what
number is it?  Is this even the issue?

A fuse controls both sides. If the problem is both the left turn signal and the left back-up light you probably have a an electrical wire problem; could be hot or ground. In a car that's just seven years old, it might have been in an accident and wasn't completely fixed, or it had a water problem, like in a flood. Have a mechanic review this and then discuss this with the dealer.
