I am not getting heat in the passenger compartment, what could be wrong?

My 2004 VW Jetta wagon engine temperature gauge is showing normal engine operating
range

I had a 2001 a4 Avant with the same symptom and it turned out to be a decayed heater core. I had it flushed by the dealership which worked for a short while, but it clogged again. Unfortunately, it was an expensive fix - the dash has to be removed to make the repair.
