Damage from faulty vapor management valve?

Asked by jgbruce Aug 03, 2015 at 02:12 PM about the 2012 Ford Focus

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Our 2012 Ford Focus is getting serviced. We took it in to the dealer and they said the
vapor management valve caused the fuel tank and fuel pump to become damaged and
they say it will cost over $2000. Is it possible for a bad vapor management valve to warp
the gas tank and damage the fuel pump?

yes it could, but the price to repair everything seems on the high side...

$2242 is what they want to fix mine with the same problem. Ford, what kind of crap are you building these days. Some plastic tray in my transmission caused my F-150 to shift into first at 60 mph, cost around $800 for plastic tray that looks like a mail basket on my desk.

They told me valve mgmt system, collapsed the gas tank $2100 to fix. I brought car 2013 focus for what I thought was trans problem. Trans fluid overheating message. Who wants to hear about a collapsed gas tank, when you have trans problem looming
