Why is the transmission giving me problems

My ford focus wont go in reverse and now light comes on
saying transmission is over heating and sometimes wont
shift into gear what could be the problem please help need
advise its only car I have to get to work

Sorry but there is no quick fix. The 2012 to 2016 Ford Focus DPS6 transmission has a host of issue, mainly the internal clutch. Search online for a list and the class action lawsuits to many TSB's. This is a known fault that Ford knew about. Your best bet is to have it replaced or rebuilt at this point or find another vehicle. I would use an Uber in the meantime.
