Bait and switch ad

Asked by Feb 05, 2017 at 11:19 AM about the 2011 Dodge Journey

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

I have a problem with Penske Buick
advertising a Dodge Journey that is not
there or not available for sale. I've called 3
different times. The first time they ran my
credit and approved me. Said to come
down and we can do the deal. They called
back saying they car was not available any
more. The following days the ad was still
available so I called 3 more times. They
said it was still available all 3 times and
come down to see it. So I came in and they
looked for it, but it was in the shop so it
was not available "right now".  Why don't
you look for another car while your here.

Bait and Switch!!

I don't know what this site can do about this, other than ask them to remove their ad, if they are shady complain to your state's Attorney General's office. This site is more like Craigslist (with a better spam filter), anyone can make a listing here, but there's no guarantee it's a legit car. Try using the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page, and notify the site's admin about this company.

Bait and switch is when you buy the journey, come to get it and they show you your Dart. The internet advertising is slow.

That would be fraud. Bait and switch is an apt description for what the OP experienced. They continue to advertise a car they no longer have, it obviously generates interest from buyers for them, they even used it to pre-approve this person's credit. Unfortunately there is little anyone can do about it other than become savvy enough shopper to know when to walk away from unscrupulous dealers like this.

Think about it,what kind of place would use a Journey as the bait in a bait and switch?.Franchised dealers are heavily watched and frankly don't have the time to dick around with stuff like this
