F150 taillights

Asked by Aug 14, 2019 at 07:53 AM about the 2011 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I busted the tailight fixture on the drivers side
and it filled up with water and shorted out the
bulb. I replaced the whole assembly and the
running lights work but no turn signal, brake
lights or reverse lights on that side. Again,
when I turn on my lights they work fine but
won’t blink or light up when I turn on the turn
signal

It might be that the tail light (running light) is on a separate hot or ground wire from the turn signal, brake light and reverse light. You might have hooked up the new fixture wrong, or there's further damage that you haven't yet fixed.

I think your right about the further damage. The fixture was simple u just slide the old fixtures out of the damages one and slide them into the new one. I didn’t have to mess with any wires at all. But the fixture on the bottom was rusty from having water in the tailight assembly
