Heat gauge out of control
The heat gauge in my 2011 Nissan Altima is
fluctuating dramatically. It starts normal, then
goes up, and then moves between all the
way hot to normal over and over. The car
does not smell or smoke and the hood never
feels overly hot. I have also noticed that
when I’m driving fast, the air conditioner
works normally but then when I slow down,
especially when I’m stopped at a light, it
starts blowing warm, muggy air. None of this
happens when I’m just driving through town,
but when I drive any distance farther than
through town, the heat gauge goes crazy.
Any idea what this could be? Thank you.
You most likely have a defective engine coolant temperature sensor; that's all.
