2011 Ford Escape-on highway, hood flew open - hit windshield with great force/multiple cracks across windshield. Subsequent, would not start and car doors would not lock. Don't know why.

Driving 65 mph -hood flew open with great force against windshield.  Mulitple
cracks all across windshield. Towed to auto body shop: once there, car would
not start and doors would not lock.  Don't know why.  I had just noticed that
day hood would not open and seemed securely latched in place. Is a dash
light supposed to come on to warn of an impending latch issue?
