BMW oil leak

What can cause a major oil leak on a
BMW? It has leaked a lot of oil after being
stationery on the drive all night.

It could be anything- anything that is made to keep the oil IN- gaskets, seals, caps- if you are trying to avoid the inevitable expense, try to see where it is coming from- if you get lucky, it might just be a loose cap or loose oil filter- are you feeling lucky?


It's an oil leak! Find it and get it fixed. Yes, it IS that simple.


Hello, these cars are known for leaking from the oil filter housing gasket, the valve cover gasket and the oil pan gasket. I would begin checking with the oil filter housing gasket and work my way down to the oil pan because the oil from the valve cover gasket part oil filter housing gasket can leak down to the oil pan and make it look as if it's leaking when it may not be. The BMWs are notorious for leaking at those three locations. Hope this helps.

I can never get done with my E90 N46B20 on oil leak! For oil leaks, In four years, I have changed the o-rings on the brake vacuum pump twice, now a new pump; change the oil filter oil cooler gaskets twice, rocker cover gasket twice, oil sump gasket once ... and I had never had the car good for more than a month without oil leak after each fix, ...there is always a new location to leak ... and there is a new leak again ... now the leak is said, told by the mechanic could be coming from the oil seal at the flyeheel. Sighhh! BMW! Can you design-out this prolonging problem ....
