Should I use synthetic oil in my 1997 Ford Thunerbird

A conversion from conventional to synthetic oil in your car should be fine. And the belief that switching back will cause engine troubles is not true. If you decide later that you prefer conventional, you may switch back without worries. Synthetic oil with its superior additives will clean out deposits in your engine and where deposits have been accumulating around seals in older engines, this might cause minor leaks; not in good seals themselves, but where old seals have deteriorated and sludge has built up.


This old I would stick with conventional oil, it was design to run conventional and that is what to stay with. Besides synth is so much more expensive than dyno oil and you can’t run it any longer than conventional oil cause your car is not designed for it.
