My blower only works on HIGH

Asked by brewsky May 11, 2016 at 03:45 PM about the 2010 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2010 Ford F150, Over the past year, the A/C heater blower has
gone from working on all levels, 1 thru 4 to just working on HIGH. I have
replaced my resistor and that did not correct the problem. At the time, I
thought the problem must be something else then since it still worked the
same as with the old resistor. But I have since learned that the resistor is
bypassed on the HIGH setting. So now I'm wondering if the new Resistor is
DOA. Is there any way to check if it's a dud or not? Any other suggestions
on what this could be and how to trouble shoot? BTW, I am not
mechanically inclined. Just like to learn new things and enjoy a good
challenge

You will need a couple of things. An ohm meter and the resistance measurements of the contact points for the resistor. The net should explain how to check the resistance of the contact points once out of the vehicle. And yes, the resistor is bypassed with the fan is on high. You should check and make sure the blower motor is working properly, not jammed, or any obstructions preventing the free movement of the blade/fins. Any obstructions or hindrances can blow the resistor quickly. Make sure the resistor was not damaged with it was installed by visually checking it. If you have to install a new resistor, check it with an ohm meter before installing.

The temp control unit is computerized in this year truck what i would is go to the local salvage yard and see if they have one eaither in stock or out in the yard buy it if they do and swap them out. Alot of times when this happens a newer car or truck it is 9 out of times going to be a bad temp control
