Town and Country Van

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2010 Town and Country van
I will drive it all day and it starts fine.  Then all of a
sudden it won't start.  It just clicks.  We changed
the battery and starter hoping this would help.  It is
doing it again.  It just clicks.  Windows work etc.  It
just won't start.  Tried jumping it.  Still nothing.
Hooked it up to battery charger for about 5
minutes then it started???  We just don't
understand this?  Any ideas??

Use a volt meter if you can get one or borrow and put it on dc volts 20. Put the red lead on the battery positive and the negative lead on the solenoid post of the starter and try to start it and see what you see on the volt meter

Holding it in the crank position you should see less than a volt

Ok, so of it's more than a volt how do you figure out where it's draining it from?

Well theres only a few things invoved there. ignition switch, relay, the connection at the starter itself may be corroded, park neutral switch or clutch safety switch if its a standard

In a no start situation youd have to voltage drop test the components involved until u backtracked where the your losing your voltage at

Same thing happens to mine. Sometimes the key locks and I cannot remove it after 30 minutes.
