I have seen the results of a timing belt break at freeway speeds, it is not pretty, three Pistons had broken Valves jammed righ into them and the 4th was so badly nicked and gouged they were totally useless, not mention the damage the cylinder head and block had received, time for the scrap heap.
If your timing belt breaks you and your bank account will not be happy. Why risk it, get it replaced.
