Hello Friends
Has anyone had the opportunity to drive the 2008 or 2009 4runner V8 and 2010 4runner to advice in terms of:
- Good off- road performance
- Smoothness in driving
- Over all driving comfort
- Unintended acceleration – was the 2010 model affected?
Unfortunately we do not have 4runners in the country I am writing from so that I could test drive myself. I intend buying one from US for use in Africa

The previous model 4Runner starting in 2003-2009 is actually rated better by Motor Trend then the new 4Runner design. I have owned 3 4Runners, the V8 has much more torque than the V6 and gets about 1mpg worse for gas mileage. My suggestion if you want a 4Runner for off-road make sure to buy a Sport Edition. It has standard safety features that are options even on the Limited model for way less $! Good luck and hope this helps!
