"Skipping" or "cutting out" at idle and lower rpms, mostly when slowly climbing a grade.

Asked by Jul 27, 2017 at 02:10 PM about the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2010 Jetta 2.5, engine light on, throws same codes even after parts are
replaced. For ex: MAP sensor, replaced twice, plenums cleaned, etc. Next:
upstream O2 sensor, replaced yesterday. Today we got light again, same codes
along with "solenoid valve 3", "engine control valve" and "no DTC definition
found". Car feels like it's cutting out or skipping at an idle, and if I'm pulling any
small hill at a lower speed, it does it badly. Does not seem to occur during
highway speeds, but has stalled out several times at red lights. Having
replaced so many parts and getting the same codes I'm ready to torch it. Being
the type female I am, I'm not completely ignorant of car stuff, but I can't fix it
myself. My brother is my manic mechanic, and he's at a loss now as to what
too next. He prefers American muscle cars, but can usually fix anything. We're
both tired of it now....mostly me. Anybody have any suggestions as to my next
