2003 Hyundai Elantra passenger brake light not working.

Asked by Mar 04, 2016 at 10:07 AM about the 2003 Hyundai Elantra

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The brake light on the rear right side of my car is not working, but oddly
enough the left one is. Replaced both several times to make sure it is not
the bulb and also manually inspected every fuse in the car. (accessory
fuses in the cabin and the box that's under the hood) No idea what could
make only one light not work in this case. (Seen other threads where they
mention the brake switch, but with them all lights don't work.)

P.S
Not sure if it matters but I found out it was a test car that has ABS brakes
but isn't listed as having them; mentioning because maybe they changed
something else I don't know about.

Look inside of the light socket and make sure the connections are not bad or corroded not making good connection also check wires going into light socket for loose or bad connection.

Yeah, cleaned one of them off with vinegar and a small screwdriver, but to no avail. I think one of the terminals is shorter than the other so I may have to replace the socket.
