how to check a fuel pump

Turn the key to the on position and you should hear it prime up. If you hear nothing, then there is a power issue to the fuel pump. Next would be to hook up a fuel pressure gauge into the fuel line to check the fuel pump pressure. If the fuel pump pressure is below the minimum rated fuel pressure, then the fuel pump is bad.
