2010 Hyundai Sonata

Asked by May 18, 2018 at 03:55 PM about the 2010 Hyundai Sonata

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I reviewed some of the problems with the ignition for the 2010 Sonata.  I had the same problem where my key would not turn, so I could  not crank my car.  Use a different key (spare) and it worked, but temporarily.

During the use of the spare key for a short time, my car started cutting off after idling at a light.  This happened three times, but far and few between incidences.  I took my car to the dealership; they replaced the ignition switch, and said something about a brake switch. The tech said my car was cutting off after I released the brake to start moving, due to a safety mechanism?

However, after the ignition switch was replaced my car ran fine for about a month, then it occurred again.  I was shocked and scared! I took my car back to the dealership, they had it for three days, called me today to say they have not  been able to witness the occurrence, and there are not codes being displayed.  I have to go pick up my car without resolution.

I hope someone can help me with this issue.  I'm afraid to drive my car for fear of stalling in heavy traffic.
