2010 Honda Odyssey Tailgate Failure

Asked by jonesdad4 Aug 17, 2019 at 11:28 AM about the 2010 Honda Odyssey

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2010 Honda Odyssey tailgate does not
close and latch completely and automatically
as it should either with key fob or buttons in
car. It will close and shut, but you can see the
tailgate is not fully closed and the door open
sensor will beep. Sometime I can manually
push it closed and it will shut and latch, but
sometimes it still pops open. There is nothing
visibly damaged or obstructing it from
closing. Any help on what may be wrong and
how to fix it would be appreciated! Thanks!

I am going to call out insufficient grounding to the BCM, body control module, chances are the mechanism is just fine, if replaced would do exactly the same thing, but the Brains of the operation are not registering the actions, clean the grounds at the battery escpecially the chassis ground what the body computer module uses~ and we should be okay~
