i have a 2010 endeavor and it was doing good so about 2 weeks ago i replaced at tire then later on that day it starting jerking. i thought i need a tune up and i got it out he shop thursday.

i got it out the shop thurdsay and today when i got gas the service engine light
came about 4 hours later. i checked the gas cap and it wasnt on tight how
long after that do the light turns off

You should go back to that shop and have the trouble codes scanned. This would tell you if it was the gas cap or a problem with the EVAP system. For a gas cap, you run the fuel tank down from 3/4 to 1/4 tank of gas for the light to go off for a gas cap.

Yes, long as the engine is running smooth. I suspect it is some sort of EVAP leak, aka the gas cap. Just don't be topping of the gas tank. Topping off the gas tank when re-filling, even with no problems is not good to do. The gas seeps into the EVAP canister and plugs it up, causing a no start situation. Just so you know on that. But sure, you shouldn't get stranded anywhere, you should be fine.
