Are you sure the squeaking sound is coming from the brakes? If so, they could just be dirty or have a rock or something however, there is a little metal tab in there that is meant to scratch when the brakes get to a certain point of being worn. If so, it is time to replace your brakes. However, if the problem happens when you turn, the squeak could be coming from your power steering pump. It could be low on fluid or completely worn out.

Could also be a loose power steering belt. Pull ur hood up, is the sound coming from under there?
