2010 Chevy Mailbu-Service ESC and Traction

Asked by May 25, 2018 at 10:30 AM about the 2010 Chevrolet Malibu

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car ran fine, I've driven it out of town on long drives however last month
my check engine light came on. I had to renew my plates and take an
emissions test so I went ahead and got it serviced so I could see what was
going on with the light. I was told that my engine didnt have enough oil
because it must have a leak and this screwed up my sensors (I forgot the
name of the sensor he specified).  The invoice showed R & R valve cover
gasket replaced, oil change and R & R exhaust variable tiing sensor
replacement. When I got my car back, it was sputtering and dragging on
acceleration. The check engine light came back on with a few days. I took it
back and they said the sensor was bad. They put another one in and said
the first sensor was defective but same issue came up but this time the
Service ESC and traction control warnings also showed up. I'm not
knowledgeable about this and I am a single women with no male figures in
my life that is knowledgeable enough about cars to guide me in the right
direction.  I dont want to say the shop did something wrong but I do think
they charged me to fix something that wasnt actually the problem.  Any
suggestions or advice? I've gone to this shop off and on over the last few
years and they are pretty good, never heard anything negative about them
and their reviews are great.
