Steering wheel, battery signs on

Asked by GuruP9GF2 Jan 13, 2020 at 04:31 PM about the 2010 Volkswagen Golf

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just replaced my golf 6 TSI 1.2 battery. Unfortunately I
replaced it backwards. The hooter went on. I replaced it
correctly now red battery and steering wheel signs are on.
The steering Is heavy to turn. The ESP yellow light is also on
and radio off. What could be the problem and is there
anything I shld be worried about?

I did the same thing. People will slam on you but it happens. Check all your fuses. I blew some 15a and 30a fuses for my wipers and other things. You also blew your 200a alternator fuse, that’s why you have a red battery light when items running. It’s located at the front vertical face of the fuse box under your hood. It’s a fuse installed on studs, not the type you can just pop out. You will see several large red wires in that area. It’s going to be on the far left (AMI/MIDI type fuse) you probably blew the one next to it too which is for the steering module and is likely 80a. Best of luck.

Thank You Curtis. My mechanic was honest enough not to rob me. So he explained exactly the same thing. Problem #2: the same car 2 years back damaged the mechatron mechanically. What happened is when I started the car a bang sound came from the engine. The problem was fixed. Now it's blinking the gears but it's moving. Sometimes while still on motion it stops accelerating until I give it power or I stop and re-start. What could be the problem
