2010 prius can using the engine break cause problems

lately when i use the engine break, then back to drive, it jumps back to neutral
by itself, but if i stay in drive it seems fine. is this an indication of a major
problem, or perhaps just a sensor

I always use this function on my 2013 prius and I never had any problem I think that you must check your sensors.
