Audi A6 fuel pump (in tank) seems to have a third pipe that leaks

Asked by DaveAllroad75 May 13, 2018 at 10:06 AM about the 2009 Audi A6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On top of the fuel pump there looks like there is a third outlet. All the videos I
see on YouTube only have two outlets. I've searched for replacement pumps
and seen one that look similar to the current pump installed except the third
outlet looked sealed (as in a spigot that was never open).
This has started leaking after the fuel pump was changed. The garage that
fitted it has said that fuel should not becoming out of it (even though I have
seen fuel dribbling out of the top of it).
Should I seal up this third outlet?

I’m having the same exact issue on my Audi A4 cabriolet but it’s more than a dribble. It’s full on pouring out of the center outlet. Did you figure out what is going on with yours? I could use some help with my situation. (Ignore the picture)
