At is blowing hot air only

Asked by Kimberjoy39 Jul 24, 2018 at 09:32 PM about the 2009 Dodge RAM 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My son has a 2009 Dodge Ram (Hemi). It has a
part that has been recalled and it's been replace 3
times now.  I can't remember the name of the part
but you access it by removing the glove
compartment.  It shuts the cold and hot air off
when switched.  Any how he's put coolant in the
truck but "I" feet the center knob is broken.  The
way he turns it,  it wouldn't surprise me.    it just
seems to turn super easy.   How can I diagnose
what the issue is?. He's also replaced a fuse that
was burnt out.  It was hard to pinpoint which fuse
went to the AC as it didn't specifically say AC...
PLEASE HELP.   THANK YOU

This is a huge swing for the fence, but remove the glovebox again, it's fairly easy, n take a looksee at the plenum behind the glovebox. You'll be looking for a servo that operates the "blend" door. More that likely, it's broken at the drive shaft, either that or the door shaft is busted or both. But if he's "whippin'" the temp control around, like any mechanical item, it can n will break under too much force...but that's covered by a different recall notice, lol!
