i think i blew a gasket after redlining at 8k rpm

Earlier today ( in my manual 1998 Honda accord) I started my car in neutral and had my foot all the way down on the gas I didn't hear my engine rev because my friend was blasting music I realized I was giving it as after I had hit 8k rpms and my car shut off then I tried to drive it and the engine sounded like there was something loose or clanging and shut off after letting off the gas. I do not know much about cars any ideas to what may be wrong with my engine?

Thats the fastest way to blow an engine. Since you hear clanging noises I would investigate it to see if there is a thrown rod or bearing slipped or rocker arm loose or off or bent valve or cam lobe broke, Pull the valve cover, if there is nothing broke there then pull the oil pan. Check the timing belt. If its all together take a breaker bar and slowly turn the engine over to see if and where the noise is at. I had one that had 4 lobe on the cam pop off I do not know one caused the others but I had to put in a new cam. Mine did not crank back up so I did not mess anything else up so I would not run your engine until you have discovered the issue and repaired it.
