How to creep up at a yield in a manual?

Asked by Qbently Feb 22, 2016 at 04:30 AM about the 2000 Honda Civic

Question type: General

My cars second gear is supposed to be used
above 24km/h and most yields in my city are very
sketchy. Should I shift into first while moving?
Come to a full stop?

2nd gear should be good for a lower speed than that- or just shift into first- you have a synchromesh first gear-

You will notice that if you are in too high of gear to cost with the clutch out (engaged), or take off that the motor will bog down when letting the clutch out to go, so you need a lower gear, 1st or 2cnd. Just watch the tack and you will know when to shift up, or down to lower or higher gears.
