Fair Price for a parts car

Asked by Dec 04, 2017 at 09:18 AM about the 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I have a beautiful sparkly bright blue 1974
volkswagen super beetle and need help on what a
fair asking price is for a parts car. The engine
caught fire. Obviously there's damage, but it has
the roof rack, new bumpers, brand new  calipers
and brakes brand new ignition, and more I'm sure.
All new parts were only on the vehicle for a few
months and for no more than 50 miles.  I don't
know a lot about cars,  and this was a birthday gift
for my daughter. My ex bought only the expensive
authentic vw beetle parts. I know for a fact all four
brakes and calipers cost him well over $500. I want
to sell this car so my daughter can buy a more
realistic first car for her. It caught fire and was put
out fairly quickly. There's only body damage on the
engine hood. Also do you think she can get more
money if we take the parts off and sell separately,
or sell it as is? Any advice or thoughts would be
greatly appreciated.

with a fire it will be hard to sell it for any money as a whole. For a parts car, your looking at I'd say $400-500. If you sell the parts expect to get half of what you paid.
