1974 super beetle with brand new battery and make no sound when turn key on suggestions?

1. Is the new battery fully charged? Check battery connections, check ground and starter ends of battery cables. 2. Could be voltage regulator 3. Sometimes there is a blown in-line fuse. 4. Could key switch. Is the seat belt wiring still in place? If so, check that. Good Luck, let us know what it was once you fix it.

This was a great tip on the seatbelt wiring.. I checked all my connections and fully charged the battery. But when I buckled all the seat belts, the darn thing started. Thanks.!
