Put a volt meter on the alternator and see what it's putting out. Never heard of an alternator killing an engine unless that battery is dead due to the alternator not charging. Next put a volt meter on the battery itself with the engine off. You may find that your battery is bad. Check and clean all connections also. Post back with findings.

It is a new battery. I found a ground wire between the engine and fire wall that was loose and fixed it. then it ran good for a while then died again. I removed the small wire from the altinator and drove it home ok. It just won't keep running with the altinator hooked up. not for very long. I will get a volt meter tomorrow and check it. Thanks For your help.
