How do I find a fix for the below issue on a 1998 ford explorer?

This SUV has been sitting for three months with a quarter tank of gas and a dead
battery.  After replacing the battery and trying to start, it would only turn over without
actually cranking.  It acts as if it does not get any fuel to the engine.  I have looked for
and cannot find the inertia reset switch. I have determined that the filter is still good. But
I still haven't determined what else oter than te fuel pump could keep it from cranking.  
Any suggestions?

I think you have "cranking" confused with "firing". I think you mean that the engine will turn over all day, but will never fire up. If getting no spark you can have bad coils, plugs, or distributor if your vehicle has one. If the vehicle has an alarm system, a dead battery will cause it to not start when you put in the new one because the alarms anti-start feature has been activated. You will have to reset the alarm system if it has one. Just a couple thoughts................

Had the same problem and a clip that was holding my drive train in was broke. So I just ziptied and duct tape it back we're it would stay in. I know you probably don't have this vehicle anymore just for future reference.
